Secure your mission-critical networks - Kapsch CarrierCom is pioneering a “secure thinking” approach that optimizes security provision across all departments and network projects. This approach incorporates five key activities based on multiple security frameworks, including ISO/IEC 27001 and IEC 62443.
The question for operators of mission-critical networks like railways is how to ensure that operational technology and highly distributed architectures are secured to the highest extent possible. Additionally, operators must have a holistic security strategy to ensure that networks, data, users and passengers are protected, even as more and more digital technologies are introduced into their networks. Security breaches can have severe consequences, in terms of regulatory fines and reputational damage as well as for user protection and passenger safety. The consequences will also become increasingly severe especially with the introduction of the EU General Data Protection legislation in 2018, which sets the maximum regulatory fine for a data breach at four percent of global turnover – which is significantly higher as of today.
